The short version

1. Who we are

InterviewPro is provided by INTERVIEW PRO LIMITED ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17416928. For your account, usage and billing data, we're the controller under UK data protection law. That means we decide how and why that data is used.

For any privacy question or request, email support@useinterviewpro.com.

This policy covers the InterviewPro extension for Adobe Premiere Pro, our website at www.useinterviewpro.com, and the online services they connect to (the "Service"). The interviews you process with the Service are covered in section 9, where we act for you rather than for ourselves.

2. What we collect

3. How your interviews are handled

  1. When you transcribe a sequence, the extension exports its audio on your Mac and uploads it to our server.
  2. Our server passes the audio straight to AssemblyAI for transcription, then deletes its own copy.
  3. AssemblyAI returns the transcript, with words, timings and who's speaking. The extension saves it on your computer.
  4. As soon as the transcript is saved, we ask AssemblyAI to delete the audio and the transcript. If that request doesn't happen, for example because Premiere Pro was closed mid-job, our server deletes the job from AssemblyAI automatically. Either way, AssemblyAI's copy is gone within 48 hours of upload.
  5. When you use an AI feature, such as the Q&A index, Fine Cut, Assembly Cut or Clip Finder, the extension sends the transcript text it needs to our server. Our server passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic, and returns the result. If Anthropic can't answer, the request goes to OpenAI instead. We don't store the transcript text or the results.

We don't use your interviews to train AI models. Anthropic and OpenAI don't use the requests we send to train their models, under the terms we use them on. We have opted out of AssemblyAI using our customers' data to improve its models.

One exception: if you use a demo account, its results are stored on our server so that you can see them again. They're deleted with the demo account (see section 7).

4. How we use your data, and our legal reasons

What we doLegal basis (UK GDPR)
Create and run your account, provide the Service, and answer your questionsPerforming our contract with you
Manage your subscription and allowances with PaddlePerforming our contract with you, and our legal obligations (such as keeping financial records)
Keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce usage limitsOur legitimate interest in protecting the Service and its users
Use usage records and diagnostics to fix problems and improve the ServiceOur legitimate interest in making the Service reliable. You can object (see section 11)
Use the optional details you choose to add to a bug reportYour consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Send service emails, such as password reset codes and important changes to the Service or these policiesPerforming our contract with you

We don't sell your data and don't use it for advertising. We won't send you marketing emails unless you've agreed to receive them. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. The AI features produce suggestions, and you decide what to do with them.

5. Who we share data with

We use these service providers. Each is bound by a contract to protect the data and use it only to provide its service to us.

Paddle. Paddle.com Market Limited, of London, is our reseller and the Merchant of Record for all our orders. It runs checkout, takes payment, handles tax, invoices and refunds, and carries out fraud checks. Paddle is responsible for the data it collects in doing so, as its own controller. Its privacy notice explains how it uses that data.

We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect people's rights and safety, or with a buyer if our business is sold. A buyer would have to protect your data as this policy describes.

6. Sending data outside the UK

Some of our providers are in the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. When data goes outside the UK, we make sure it's protected as UK law requires, using one of these:

Contact us if you'd like more detail about the safeguard for a particular provider.

8. What's stored on your computer

The extension keeps these files in ~/Library/Application Support/InterviewPro on your Mac:

These files stay on your computer, under your control. Uninstalling the extension doesn't remove them. Delete that folder if you want them gone.

9. Interviews you process: we act for you

The interviews you edit usually contain other people's personal data, such as the voices and words of the people you interview. You, or the client you work for, decide what's recorded and what's processed with the Service. For that content, you're the controller and we're your processor. We commit to the following:

It's your responsibility to have a lawful basis for processing the people's data in your interviews, and to tell them how it's used, for example in a release form or a privacy notice. Our Terms say more about this.

10. If you appear in an interview

If you were interviewed and the footage was edited with InterviewPro, the editor or production company decides how your interview is used. Please send requests about it to them first. You're also welcome to contact us at support@useinterviewpro.com. We'll pass your request on to our customer and help them respond. We don't keep copies of interviews, so in most cases the data is held only by the editor.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email support@useinterviewpro.com. We'll reply within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend that by up to two more months, and we'll tell you if we do. We may need to confirm your identity first. These requests are free.

12. Security

We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), one-way hashing of passwords, restricted access to our systems with two-step sign-in for administrators, rate limits against misuse, and short retention periods so that there's less to protect. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.

13. Our website and cookies

The extension doesn't use cookies. Our website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts and styling code from the Tailwind CSS content network, so your browser connects to their servers, which see your IP address. When you buy, Paddle's checkout may use cookies needed for payment and fraud prevention, as its privacy notice explains. If we ever add analytics or other optional cookies, we'll ask for your consent first.

14. Children

The Service is for people aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly collect data from children through accounts. Footage of children that a customer edits is covered by section 9, and the customer is responsible for having the right permissions.

15. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices or the law change, and we'll change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you by email or in the extension before it takes effect.

16. Contact and complaints

Email support@useinterviewpro.com, or write to Interview Pro Limited, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us before you complain.
